It's been a very busy week in my classroom and this is why my Sunday looks like this:) All of the projects came home with me for grading. Our first assignment, The Grid Drawings, were due and we also started a new 2 day project that was due on Friday. The two day project was a fun project introducing Japanese Notan. I'm attaching a few pictures below of the Grid Assignments from our classes and the Notan's. On Friday, we had our first class critique. It's a time I give for the students to use their new gained art language to talk about their art and the art of their peers. It's also a time where students get to voice their opinion about the assignment. My hope is that as we get to know each other better, that the students will be more comfortable speaking up in class and talking about art. Our advanced students started making plans and sketches for the murals that they will be painting on the Cypress campus over the next couple of months. I am so pleased with the talents and efforts of the Cypress art students. So many wonderful things happening in the art class this year--stay tuned--It's going to be a great year! Thanks for visiting our blog! Grid Design Project

Meet Mrs. Mort
So excited to enter my 4th year at Cypress Charter H.S.! This is my 15th year of teaching high school art. Before teaching my sole career was painting--that of course was loads of fun but I find much more joy in passing on my love of art to my students. When I'm not in the classroom, you will find me hiking, traveling, spending time with family, making something and drinking tea...lots of tea. If you are on campus, stop in and say hello. Archives
